Wide Pine Flooring

Quabbin Timber, Inc. selects its lumber from some of the finest pine stands in New England. The logs ranging from 3 to 4 feet in diameter are sawn to boards 1 1/8” thick with widths ranging from 14 to 22 inches and lengths from 10 to 16 feet. The green boards are then put on “stickers” to dry, thereby preventing any stain from occurring during the air drying process. After being air dried, they are put into “slow kilns” which dry the boards to a moisture content of 10 to 15%.

The slow kiln process blows hot air around the boards taking the moisture out slowly to prevent surface checks, end splits, and cracks. After the drying cycle, the boards are re-graded, and down stacked. The rough boards are then tallied as a 1” x 13” and wider product. We can then surface 2 or 4 sides, straight line rip, or specialty package to a customer’s specifications.

Quabbin Timber, Inc. currently stocks grades from Standard and Better to Wide Select and can deliver quantities ranging from 1 unit to full truckloads.

From log selection to drying we are involved in every step of the process. We do this in order to be sure our flooring manufacturers get the quality they deserve. No order is too big or too small.
